The Weight of Caregiving
Anonymous Bratty Cupcake #320 · General Confessions
I've always been this person who takes on the burden of caring for others, even when it feels like I'm the one who needs the care most. My partner and I have an arrangement that started as a simple support system but evolved into something deeper and more emotional. It's hard to explain, but there are days when I feel so utterly drained, yet it’s these moments where he steps in with such unwavering understanding and compassion that make me feel seen and loved. Lately though, the role feels like a heavy cloak, I can see how much I care for him and want to be his rock, but sometimes it's exhausting. We never label ourselves as anything fancy; we're just two people navigating through life with this unspoken agreement of mutual support. It’s been a beautiful journey, but lately, the weight has felt unbearable at times.
