A Lesson in Respect
Anonymous Midnight Kitten #161 · General Confessions
I'm a grad student and also a Mommy in my DDLG dynamic with my partner, Alex. We've been together for about two years now, and our relationship has always been one of mutual respect and understanding. But recently, things have taken an unexpected turn that I need to confess about. Alex is older than me but treats the role-play as if he's younger, which can be challenging at times. It's not something we discuss much outside of our playtime because it's a consensual part of who we are together. We're both adults here, in our twenties and thirties respectively, but there's this playful dynamic that helps us explore aspects of ourselves that are usually off-limits. Last week, after a particularly rough day at work where I felt overwhelmed with the expectations from my grad program, I took it out on Alex. It wasn't like me to be so short-tempered and dismissive, but something snapped inside when he tried to approach me for our usual play session. His attempt to comfort me was met with a harsh response that pushed him away instead of bringing us closer. I feel terrible about it now because it wasn't just a moment of frustration, it was an overreaction rooted in my own anxieties and insecurities. When I calmed down later, Alex gently reminded me of the importance of respect within our dynamic but didn't push for more than that acknowledgment. It's on me to keep us both grounded and respectful, especially since he’s been incredibly supportive through some tough academic hurdles. This isn’t just about him; it's also about recognizing my responsibilities as a partner and someone who takes pride in being his Mommy. I need to be mindful of the power dynamics involved, ensuring that while we're playing out our fantasy roles, there’s still mutual respect and care beneath them.
