Feeling Lost but Curious about DDLG Dynamics

Hi there, I'm new here and trying to figure things out. My name is Alex, 23 years old, and I recently started exploring Dominant/submissive relationships for the first time. It's been an eye-opening journey, but also a bit confusing. My girlfriend, Lily, who’s in her mid-20s, suggested we try some role-play activities that were more about power dynamics than sexual acts specifically. She said it could bring us closer and add excitement to our relationship. I agreed because I've always been intrigued by the idea of submitting to someone fully. We started out with some basic things like blindfolds during sex, but soon Lily wanted to take it further. She began calling me her “little,” saying she'd be my protector and guide in everything from daily decisions to sexual encounters. At first, I was hesitant because I’ve never been into strict role-playing before, but something about the idea of being completely cared for felt oddly comforting. We've had a few sessions where Lily took on more controlling roles: dictating what I wear, deciding how we spend our free time together, and initiating sex play that’s more dominant-submissive in nature. Each session leaves me feeling both excited but also uncertain about my desires and boundaries. It's intense to have someone take such control over aspects of your life, even if it's for a short period. Now I'm struggling with how much of this is okay and what lines we shouldn't cross. Do these feelings mean I’m not truly committed to our relationship or am I just finding out what kind of partner and person I want to be? Should I continue exploring DDLG dynamics, find different role-play styles that might suit us better, or step back entirely from this dynamic? What do you think about my situation? Have any of you experienced something similar with a new level of dominance in your relationships? How did it change things for the better or worse?
