The Weight of My Little Heart

Anonymous Whispering Petal #773 · General Confessions

I've been in this relationship for over five years now. We're a long-term couple who enjoy switching roles from time to time. There's always something about stepping into the little role that makes me feel connected to him on another level, it's like he sees the best parts of myself when I'm not even trying. But lately, there's been this tension brewing between us. It started with small things: my reluctance to wear dresses for our playtimes and his insistence that these times should be strictly non-negotiable. Little by little, it grew into something more serious. I've always felt like he's seen me as a project, someone who needs guidance and discipline to reach their full potential. And I’ve enjoyed being taken care of in this way for so long that when the balance shifted recently, I didn't know how to handle it. There came a point where my little heart couldn’t take the pressure anymore; he wanted me to regress further into childhood than ever before, but there was no going back, I felt too grown up inside to play the part fully. I tried talking things out with him. We had an intense conversation that left both of us crying and confused. He wanted more from this roleplay than I could give right now. But despite my efforts to be open about how I was feeling, he couldn't understand why being little wasn’t enough anymore. In the end, we agreed to take a break from playing caregiver/little roles until we figure out what's next for us. This confession is just that, an acknowledgment of where things stand and the confusion surrounding our dynamic at this moment. I don’t know how long it will last or if it’s possible to reclaim these feelings again in some form. Right now, all I can do is process my own emotions while respecting his wishes for space.
