A Small Lie
Anonymous Curious Bunny #455 · General Confessions
I never thought I'd have a confession like this on my mind. Today was just another day in my life as a teacher at the high school, and everything seemed fine until lunchtime. We're not supposed to eat anything but what's provided by the cafeteria staff during lunch breaks, even though it feels silly when you see everyone snacking from their own bags. But today, I caved and brought in some cookies I baked myself. It wasn't just a small transgression, it was something that felt out of character for me. In my personal life, I'm very strict with the rules and boundaries I set for myself and others. Lying about bringing food into school felt like breaking one of those self-imposed rules, almost as if I didn’t deserve to treat myself. The guilt has been nagging at me all afternoon. It's not much of a confession in terms of something shocking or revealing, but it’s the first time I’ve felt this way since exploring my dominant side recently. What does that say about me? Is it just because I’m trying too hard to be perfect in both my professional and personal life? Maybe I need to cut myself some slack and realize everyone breaks a rule once in a while.
