Feeling Overwhelmed and Lost in My Little Space
Anonymous Fuzzy Pixie #908 · General Confessions
I'm just an office worker having a really rough week. I've been working extra hours at the office because of this big project, but that hasn't stopped me from trying to keep up with my usual hobbies on the weekends. Last weekend, my boyfriend suggested we do something different, he wanted to try out our new little space room setup for our roleplay activities. At first, I was hesitant because I've been feeling really overwhelmed lately and thought it might be too much. But, you know how it goes, when someone suggests something, there's this push-pull feeling inside that makes you want to give in. So we did it, he put on a strict Daddy role and I let myself fall into being a little for a while. Usually, these sessions are really refreshing for me; they help me feel more grounded and childlike in ways that are healthy. But this time was different. Maybe it had to do with how exhausted I've been feeling from work, the stress seemed to seep into everything we did together, even our private playtime. During one of our sessions, things got a bit tense between us because I wasn't fully there mentally. There were moments where he tried to give me guidance and correction as part of our role-play dynamic, but it felt more like nagging than nurturing. Afterward, we talked about how neither of us was entirely satisfied with the experience, for him, it probably felt unfulfilling seeing that I wasn't fully participating in the play, while for me, it just added another layer to my current feelings of inadequacy and stress. I'm not sure if this weekend is going to be any better. We're planning on having a regular play session again, but now there's an extra weight hanging over us both from what happened last time. It’s like we’re stuck in this cycle where I keep hoping that our dynamic will provide the escape I need, only to find myself feeling trapped by it instead. I guess sometimes when you feel lost and overwhelmed, even your safe spaces can start to feel unsafe. Maybe I just need a break or something different, but right now all I know is that this week has been one big exhausting cycle of stress and more stress.
