A Small Act of Rebellion

Anonymous Cuddly Bunny #240 · General Confessions

So yeah, I've been really into this whole caregiver thing with my partner for a while now. It's not like we label it anything fancy or formal, but there’s this understanding that they take care of me in a way that feels protective and nurturing. Like when I’m stressed out from classes, they'll make sure I get enough sleep or cook up something nice to eat. But lately, I've been feeling kind of restless and wanting to test some boundaries. I guess it started with the small stuff. Last week, my partner asked me not to eat any chocolate because I have a midterm coming up next week. They know how sugar affects my focus and energy levels negatively, but honestly, I just felt like being rebellious for once. So I snuck some of those brownies from the kitchen while they weren’t looking. I wasn't even hungry or craving it; it was more about wanting to do something against their wishes. And surprisingly enough, after eating that little bit, I didn't feel worse than usual, maybe a tad more jittery, but it felt good to have done what I wanted instead of following orders. Anyway, now the guilt is creeping in. They’re going to be disappointed and maybe even worry if they find out. But at the same time, this small act of defiance has given me a weird sort of comfort. Maybe next time, I’ll just talk it over with them beforehand, see if there’s room for negotiation or understanding about my need for some independence, even within our dynamic.
