Lied About Eating the Cake
Anonymous Giggly Marshmallow #454 · General Confessions
So here I am, Mr. Johnson, the high school math teacher, confessing to something so utterly insignificant that it's ridiculous to even admit it. We had this cake in the staff room, and it was supposed to be for a faculty meeting we all skipped because who wants to sit through another pointless discussion? But let’s be real, there are only so many meetings about standardized tests before you start eyeing desserts as your saving grace. Anyway, I ate half of it. And then I lied about it when the custodian asked if anyone had touched it. I said no, and here's where it gets interesting: I felt like a complete fraud while saying it. It’s funny how one little lie can make you feel so out of character, especially in front of someone who has to clean up after us all day long. You’d think with all the serious stuff we deal with as teachers, eating a bit too much cake would be the last thing I'd feel guilty about. But there it was, nagging at me like it was some kind of rule broken in a very uncool and unprofessional way.
