I Broke The Rules And Ate That Chocolate Bar Anyway

Anonymous Sleepy Duckling #240 · General Confessions

So I've been into this whole DDLG thing for a while now. It's not like I'm out and proud or anything, but it's become such an important part of my life that it's hard to imagine myself without it. Recently though... well, let me start from the beginning. We have these rules in our dynamic where certain snacks are off-limits unless you've done all your chores first. It’s not just about food, it’s more symbolic of following instructions and being responsible. I'm supposed to be learning how to manage my own time better and make good choices. But today, I broke the rule. I was in the middle of working on a software project that's due soon, I really need this job, and there was this chocolate bar sitting right next to me, begging to be eaten. It’s been there for days now, just staring at me every time I walk by it or sit down to code. The temptation grew so much that yesterday, I ended up snacking on some cookies instead of doing my chores like we agreed. So today was supposed to be different. I was going to tackle the chores early and then indulge in a little reward for being good, I thought maybe I could earn back some trust by sticking to the rules this time around. But as soon as I saw the chocolate bar, all that resolve just vanished like smoke. I kept telling myself it wouldn’t matter, but deep down, I knew it would. The rule isn't about the food, it’s about showing respect and following through with commitments. So when no one was looking, I took a bite of the chocolate bar. Just a small taste to start, I told myself, but soon enough, half of it was gone. And now I feel terrible. Here's this big project hanging over my head at work, deadlines creeping closer every day, and on top of all that, I broke our rules again. It’s like everything is just falling apart around me right now, and it’s all because of one little chocolate bar. I don’t know how to make things better. Part of me wants to come clean immediately; be honest about what happened. But the other part feels so guilty, I’m afraid that by breaking this rule again, I've blown everything we’ve worked towards for so long. And there’s no easy way out of it. So here I am, confessing anonymously online because I can’t find a good place to start repairing things on my own. I know it sounds silly when you lay it all out like this, but in the moment, it feels much worse than that.
