Caregiver's Conundrum

Anonymous Blushing Marshmallow #103 · General Confessions

I’ve been a caregiver for my partner, who likes to explore age play and dynamic relationships as part of our kink scene. It’s something that has added depth and intimacy to our relationship over the past two years, but lately I feel like people are judging me for it. Maybe they think I’m playing the role without truly understanding or respecting what comes with being a caregiver in this context. Or maybe they just don’t see the nuances of adult age-play and assume the worst. My partner really enjoys feeling cared for, almost as if we’re flipping back to earlier life stages, but always within the boundaries we’ve set together. I’m there for them, handling everything from mundane tasks like cooking meals or helping with appointments to providing emotional support during tough times. It’s a role that gives me a sense of responsibility and pride, not because my partner needs this type of help, but because it feels rewarding. People often see only the surface-level activities or the play aspects without understanding the full spectrum of what we share as adults. They miss out on seeing how our dynamic also allows for vulnerability and genuine connection that goes beyond traditional relationship frameworks. In many ways, I feel like an advocate for this kind of consensual adult intimacy. There are days when I wonder if others perceive me as some sort of caregiver without the emotional or sexual bond we actually have. I’ve had conversations where it feels like they question my motives but don’t seem open to understanding our actual dynamic and consent-based setup. It’s frustrating, because at the end of the day, what matters is that my partner and I are both happy with how we navigate our relationship together. In short, while some may see this as a gray area or even controversial, for us it's an enriching aspect of our connection. I stand by being proud of who I am in this role, regardless of external opinions.
