When I Became the Caregiver to My Master's Needs
Anonymous Shy Duckling #473 · General Confessions
I've always thought of myself as a switch in this DDLG world, capable of both taking and giving. But lately, something has shifted inside me. Over the past few months, my dynamic with my Master has changed subtly but significantly. What started as a playful little game began to feel like a deeper responsibility that I hadn't anticipated. We've been together for almost two years now, and our relationship is filled with mutual respect and understanding. Our play used to be more about role-playing and exploring different dynamics. But then, a few months ago, my Master started leaning on me emotionally in ways that felt new and unexpected. He began coming to me with his problems and concerns, seeking guidance from me rather than just playful discipline or care. Initially, I relished the idea of being the one he turned to for support. It made me feel important, like a trusted advisor. But as time went on, I started feeling overwhelmed by the weight of it all. His issues are real and deep, and while he's always been great about giving me space when I need it, there have been times when it felt like too much. The turning point came last week when we were in a heated argument. It wasn't anything major, just another day with its usual ups and downs. But this time, instead of staying playful, he broke down emotionally during our session. I found myself stepping up to comfort him, becoming the caregiver more than ever before. It felt good at first; knowing that I could provide a haven for him in his moments of struggle was powerful. Yet after we calmed down and talked it out, there was an underlying current that lingered between us. The roles we played were shifting, me moving further into the caregiver role, him retreating more towards needing care. This shift worries me because I've never wanted to feel like a permanent substitute for any aspect of his life outside of our play. It's confusing to find myself in this new position and wonder if it's truly what we both want or if it’s just a phase. Writing this now is my way of processing the change, acknowledging that while I can be strong for him, I also need to ensure there's still space for growth and balance within our dynamic.
