Forgot My Place Again

So there I was, sitting at my desk trying to get some work done when my phone buzzed. It was my wife reminding me to take out the trash and put away the groceries from yesterday morning. Now, in our dynamic, this is a pretty simple task, something I should remember without needing to be reminded every single time. But here's where things get silly: instead of just nodding my head and going about it like an adult would, I got all flustered and started making excuses why it could wait till later or even tomorrow (spoiler alert: there are no good reasons for any of that). My wife isn't one to beat around the bush either, she saw right through my BS in seconds. I felt like a little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar, which is exactly what this is all about sometimes when we play roles. It's embarrassing and funny at the same time, who knew something as simple as taking out trash could feel so complex? But hey, it just goes to show that even after years of doing this, there are still moments when I slip up and forget where I stand. A reminder for all of us: it’s okay to be a little lost every once in a while.
