A Little Too Entertaining at Work

So, there's this customer who comes into the store every week or so. I'll call him 'Mr. Knightly' because he's quite the gentleman and has a penchant for wearing all black, which is oddly endearing to me. We've had our share of friendly banter over the past few months, nothing serious, just light-hearted teasing and playful insults that we both take in stride. Now, here’s where things get interesting. One day, I was restocking shelves when Mr. Knightly walked in. As usual, he started chatting me up, but this time, something about his demeanor seemed different. His eyes were a bit more serious, and there was an intensity to the way he spoke that caught my attention. Out of nowhere, he asks if I want to play a little game with him. My heart skipped a beat because we both know there’s always that unspoken rule in the workplace about keeping things professional. But Mr. Knightly isn’t one for rules when it comes to fun and games. He proposed we pretend like our usual playful interactions are actually something more, like I’m his naughty little employee who needs some discipline. He suggested a deal: if he could catch me daydreaming or slacking off during my shift, then I’d have to do whatever little task he asked of me, no questions asked. It was like an inside joke between us, a way to add a bit more spice and excitement to the mundane workday. I thought about it for a moment. Would it be worth breaking that professional barrier? In the end, I agreed. The thrill of pretending we were in this bizarre power dynamic was just too tempting. So here’s the confession part: while we both had our moments of light-hearted fun with this little game (like when he'd ask me to 'stand up straight' or give him a bow), there was an underlying current of something more. I started looking forward to Mr. Knightly's visits for more than just friendly banter, and the thought that maybe there’s more to his interest in our playful games than meets the eye kept me on my toes. Did we cross any professional lines? Maybe a bit, but it was all consensual and fun. And let’s face it, I wouldn’t be the first person to find an odd thrill in turning routine work interactions into something far more exciting.
