That One Time I Broke a Rule in My Own Head
Anonymous Candy Duckling #435 · General Confessions
So yeah, I was feeling pretty good about myself and my whole DDLG thing. You know, keeping up with the rules we agreed on, stuff like being respectful, doing what's asked of me, all that jazz. But then it happened. This one little moment where everything just went south for no real reason. I guess I was in a rush or something. There was this task to do, which isn't really a big deal but part of our dynamic is about following through on those kinds of things. It's kind of like a test of commitment and being dependable, you know? So yeah, instead of doing it right away, I ended up putting it off until later. But then the moment passes and the day gets busy with other stuff, and before you know it, it's gone for good. And that’s when guilt starts creeping in. It was just a little thing, but breaking any kind of rule we set up means something to me, it felt like letting myself down somehow. I mean, on one hand, I can rationalize it all day long: the task wasn't urgent or important, no harm done at all really. But that's not what matters here; it's about the sense of responsibility and respect for our understanding. And in that moment of breaking my own little rule, something felt off. Like maybe I was just being lazy, or perhaps more importantly, disrespecting myself by doing so. It made me think a lot about why those rules are important to me beyond the surface stuff. It's not really about the tasks themselves, it’s about showing up and honoring our dynamic fully. That kind of self-reflection is hard but necessary sometimes.
