...And Then I Broke My Own Rules...
Anonymous Sleepy Moth #115 · General Confessions
So here's the thing, I recently got divorced after seven years of marriage. It was tough, but it had to happen; we just grew apart and no longer shared the same values or interests anymore. That part is sad, sure, but my new life? Yeah, that’s kind of... liberating. I’ve always been pretty vanilla in the bedroom, never really ventured too far into the kinky world until after the divorce. Now I’m experimenting with all sorts of things. It's weird how sometimes you need to lose everything to find yourself again. Anyways, one of my new favorite things has become this whole DDLG... thing. I'm not fully there, I haven't picked out a specific role or anything, but it’s fun playing with the idea, especially after so many years of just being vanilla. So here's where the confession part comes in: we had this rule that when my ex and I got divorced, we agreed to split everything down the middle, no arguments. I was supposed to follow these rules about certain items belonging to me versus her because it made for an easier divorce settlement. But you know how sometimes you just want something so much that you forget all your reasons for not having it? Last week, I found this little box of photos from our wedding night... You know, the ones that show us at our absolute worst, hair messy, makeup smudged, but happy and smiling. We had decided they would go to her as part of a larger photo album she kept. But something made me hold on to them longer than I was supposed to. The rules said return them in two weeks... Well, it's now been three. I guess you could say I’m feeling guilty about breaking the rule, even though it's just photos and there’s no real consequence. It’s silly, really. But sometimes the smallest things can make us feel like we’ve betrayed a principle or someone else’s trust. And in this case, maybe both... So here I am, confessing to keeping something that isn't mine for a little bit longer than agreed. Not exactly a crime, but it sure feels heavy on my conscience. And now that I'm done writing all of this out, it sounds kind of pathetic. Guess I'll probably just return them soon enough...
