A Little Switch-Up in Our Dynamic
Anonymous Peachy Bean #689 · General Confessions
So, I've been in a relationship with my partner for five years now. We're both 32 and have a pretty flexible dynamic that we enjoy, especially when it comes to age play and caregiving scenarios. Lately though, I’ve found myself really leaning into the little space during our sessions. It’s not something I normally do much, but there's just this weird draw towards being taken care of like I’m… you know, younger than I am. I mean, who knew that feeling your partner brush your hair out of your face and tuck it behind your ear would suddenly feel so damn comforting? On the flip side, there are times when I really want to step into a more caregiver role with her. Helping my partner with everything from tying shoes (yes, literally) to planning their day has given me this warm feeling in my chest that’s hard to describe. It’s like being needed but also needing, sort of back and forth. The thing is, I'm starting to wonder if it's healthy to switch between these roles so much. Sometimes when we're in an age play scenario, it feels a bit surreal. Like am I just escaping reality or tapping into some sort of deep desire that’s always been there? And on the caregiver side of things, it sometimes makes me feel like I’m running a marathon where everyone else is standing still. So here's my confession: Is it normal for someone in a long-term relationship to oscillate between wanting to be taken care of and taking care of their partner so intensely? Sometimes these swings make me wonder if we're just spinning our wheels or if there’s something deeper going on. What do you all think? Am I being overly self-conscious, or is it okay to explore these things within the safety and trust of a long-term relationship?
