...A Little Rebellion...

Anonymous Shy Marshmallow #242 · General Confessions

Well, it's funny how these things come back to you. I was at the grocery store last week, just doing my usual shopping for our little one and me... She asked for a special treat this time, something sweet that she only gets once in a while. And let's face it, we both love those treats, chocolate truffles, creamy and rich, they're hard to resist. But rules are rules, right? We agreed there would be no extras unless it was an extra-special day. So I put them back on the shelf... or at least tried to. My hand slipped while I was reaching for another bag of chips, and one of those truffles somehow ended up in my pocket. Oops... I brought everything home and unpacked it all carefully, but when she wasn't looking, and I mean really sneaking around, I took the little chocolate treasure out of my pocket and hid it in our stash drawer. It was such a thrill... like getting away with something, even if it's only a small thing. Later that day, we were snuggling up to watch some cartoons. She caught me staring at that drawer, knowing what I had done. Her eyes got wide, but she just laughed and said, “You’re so silly sometimes!” It was the closest thing to guilt-tripping without actually saying a word... or making a big deal out of it. And you know what? That little secret shared between us felt pretty amazing... Like we had our own special moment. I guess that's one of the things about this whole dynamic, it’s not just about rules, but also about those small rebellions and then feeling connected for keeping them to ourselves... So, there you go... a chocolate truffle slipped in my pocket and hidden away. Small stuff, really, but it was our little secret that made everything feel just a bit more special...
