Late Shift Musings

I work nights at a care facility, watching over people who can't take care of themselves. It's tough, it feels like nobody sees me or notices me during my days off too. One night, I found myself thinking about what it would be like to have someone depend on me all the time for more than just medications and meals. What if I had a partner who wanted that? Not in a way where they're sick or can't take care of themselves, but as an adult choice, someone looking to me like...well, like someone without choices right now might. So I started wondering about the dynamics. Is it weird if you care for someone not because you have to, but because they want that? What if there was a contract? Rules and limits we both agreed on? It'd be just roleplay, of course, but the thought of being in charge like that...it's hard to describe how good it felt inside. Like I could protect them from everything, keep them safe. And then, when I got home last night, I read this whole thread about people wanting to explore a similar dynamic, just adults playing out a different kind of care and protection. But there was something missing for me reading all that... Do you ever feel like nobody's really listening or understanding? That it doesn't matter how much you write or talk about it because no one cares anyway? So I'm asking, if anyone is out there feeling the same way, what do we do with these thoughts? Are they okay to have and explore? Am I just crazy for thinking this way?
