Just a Prof's Day Off

I'm Dr. Jane, and I've been playing the role of Daddy to my partner for a while now. Today was different though, I decided to surprise her by turning up as myself instead of Daddy mode at our usual meeting spot. She looked so confused at first! But we had quite a laugh about it over coffee, she loved that I took control and flipped things around without warning. Afterward, we played with the idea of me letting her be the daddy in charge for once. It was an interesting dynamic shift, but also rather fun to explore this side together. Of course, she still enjoyed getting a bit bossed around by 'me' too... So here's my question: is it normal and okay to occasionally step outside of your usual roles like that? Or should we stick more strictly to our established dynamics for consistency?
