A Little Mistake While Outrunning Responsibility
Anonymous Peachy Star #124 · General Confessions
Being a military spouse can feel like running a marathon without knowing the finish line. One day, I was meant to be at home, tending to some chores and doing my part for our household while my partner was away on duty. But I found myself at a local coffee shop instead, enjoying a quiet moment in solitude and feeling free from the usual responsibilities. That’s when it happened, I ordered that double chocolate muffin I'd been eyeing since last week's visit, knowing full well there were plenty of other treats at home I could have chosen to eat. It felt like a small rebellion against my own self-imposed rules. But as the day went on and I thought about how much healthier options I had at hand but ignored them for this indulgence, guilt started creeping in. Despite the little lapse, it was still just me making choices, and while I didn't face any real consequences other than a bit of conscience nagging, that moment of freedom, albeit fleeting, and breaking my own rules felt strangely liberating.
