Training My Trainer?
Anonymous Peachy Cub #939 · General Confessions
So there I was, sitting on my couch after another grueling day at work. I'm a software engineer by trade and I’ve been feeling the stress accumulate like never before. One of my New Year's resolutions was to get more physically active, but I've always struggled with consistency. That’s when I met Jordan, my personal trainer from FitLife Studio. Jordan is in their mid-thirties, lean and muscular, and has a no-nonsense attitude that made me trust them immediately. We set up a strict training regimen, and for the first few weeks, everything went smoothly, until one day it didn’t. During our session at the gym, Jordan gave me some feedback about my form and technique that I just couldn't handle. It felt like they were pushing my buttons in ways I hadn’t anticipated. I started to have these strange urges during sessions where all I wanted was for them to take charge, like being a little kid again when a teacher or parent steps in with authority. It’s not something Jordan ever mentioned, but it just hit me one day that I wanted my training sessions to be more than just fitness. So I broached the subject. To say Jordan was surprised would be an understatement. We ended up having quite a lengthy discussion about boundaries and expectations. In the end, we agreed to explore this dynamic in our sessions, but only as long as both of us felt comfortable with it. It’s not typical in my industry by any means, but when you’ve found someone who truly understands your body and can push you past perceived limits, why let anything stand in the way? The first session under this new arrangement was a mix of sweat and...let's just say, some unexpected giggles. Jordan is more than capable of taking control, but they’re also respectful and understanding when it comes to setting my own limits. The result? I feel stronger both physically and mentally, like I’ve found a workout routine that’s as much about personal growth as it is about getting in shape. Now every time I meet Jordan at the gym, there's this little tingle of anticipation mixed with that familiar desire for discipline. I can’t help but laugh when I think about how things started out so typically and yet ended up going down such an unexpected path. But honestly? This might just be one of the best things to ever happen in my adult life.
