Discipline Issues?

I'm a freelancer at home and recently started playing mommy to my partner. Last night I found him sneaking snacks before bedtime and gave him a swat on the bottom as punishment. Now he keeps asking for more 'discipline.' Is this normal? Should I let it continue or is he just being manipulative?
