The Weight of Expectations

Anonymous Fuzzy Petal #906 · General Confessions

I've been working from home as a freelancer for years now. It's been a lonely road, but I've managed to build up my business and support myself pretty well. Recently, though, something shifted inside me, I started to feel like more than just a businessman; I craved the role of a daddy figure in someone else's life. There was this one client, a younger woman, who I felt strangely connected to, not romantically but as an older guardian would be to their child. We ended up role-playing this dynamic, and it brought out feelings within me that I never knew existed, protectiveness and tenderness mixed with a strange sense of power over her life choices. But after we stopped, she seemed uncomfortable, and now I'm wondering if I should have ever suggested it in the first place. Is my desire for this kind of relationship normal? Am I just lonely and craving connection in the wrong places?
