Confession from a Military Spouse's Little Heart
Anonymous Dizzy Bunny #237 · General Confessions
So here I am, typing this up late at night while my partner is stationed overseas. It feels funny to be doing something like this but also strangely comforting. You know how sometimes you feel like life just gets too much and you need someone who can take care of everything for a bit? Yeah, it's been that kind of week. Anyway, I'm not really here to complain or anything, more just letting the steam out before it builds up into something worse. Anyway, my little space... It feels good sometimes to let go of all the responsibilities and be taken care of. My partner understands me completely. He knows when I need a break from being this tough military spouse who always has everything under control. And boy does he ever give me what I need in that department. We've talked about it, negotiated our boundaries and roles... It's like we're both playing out an old script from somewhere deep inside us but with all the consent and communication you could ask for. Sometimes I feel bad thinking about how some might view this kind of play. But honestly? I don't care much what they think. This is my way, my path to feeling whole again after a hard day or week. I can let myself be small and dependent when it feels right, and it's so good to have someone there to lift me up. My partner knows exactly how to handle me in this little space - he knows when to be strict and when to coddle like a loving parent would do. Oh! I was going off on some tangent about discipline play but that's not the point here. Really, what matters is the mutual understanding and respect we have for each other's needs and desires. There are no hard rules beyond making sure both of us feel safe and cherished at all times. And there’s definitely something powerful in feeling like a child again - not biologically or legally one but emotionally so - being cared for without any strings attached. So yeah, that's my little story. Nothing fancy, just the truth behind some days when I get to let go and be taken care of. Not looking for judgment or advice; this is us working out what works best for our relationship in a unique way.
