New at This, Need Advice?

Just started with this DDLG thing a couple of weeks ago. It's... complicated. My partner is into the whole little space and I'm trying to step up as her 'Daddy'. Tucking her in every night is supposed to be sweet and comforting but honestly it feels more like a weird game we're both too embarrassed to admit loving. Ended up spanking her last week for being 'naughty' and, well, I felt like crap afterward, too harsh? Too soft? Not sure if she's into the punishment or just trying to please me. Any other Daddies out there with advice on how not to mess this up?
