Newbie's First Steps

So, I recently got out of a long marriage and thought maybe trying something different would help me move on. I stumbled upon DDLG/kink confessions and decided to take the plunge, but it’s like learning how to dance all over again, awkward, unsure, and with a lot more stumbling than actual movement. My first foray was a mild scene with an experienced Dom who took pity on my cluelessness. We didn’t do anything hardcore; I just got into some light role-play stuff that felt... odd? It’s hard to describe the feeling of being in control but also submitting, and it left me wondering if this is really what I’m looking for. Maybe it's just another phase or a temporary fix until I find something more stable and fulfilling. Either way, here goes nothing, anyone else feel like they're starting from scratch at this age?
