Forgot One Thing Today
Anonymous Whispering Duckling #910 · General Confessions
Working from home is supposed to be easier, right? But sometimes I just can't keep track of everything. So today, I completely forgot to take out the trash like I promised my partner I would. She told me earlier in the morning that it was important and asked me to do it before lunchtime because she wanted a clean kitchen for her dinner prep later on. It's not a big deal, really, but now there's this nagging feeling at the back of my mind. Maybe I should have just done it when she reminded me? But honestly, I just got so caught up in my work, one thing led to another and before I knew it, lunchtime had passed. Now the guilt is eating away at me like a little voice saying 'you're such a bad girl'. It's silly really, since it's not as if anything terrible happened. Still, there’s this weight on me because she specifically asked for it to be done and I let her down. Should I have just stopped mid-sentence when she mentioned it? Did I fail in my role somehow? I can’t help but wonder if I’m supposed to do better next time. Sometimes, being responsible is hard, especially when you’re distracted by all the other things on your mind.
