The Unexpected Bonding Session

I've worked retail for years now and I thought I'd seen it all. But last month, one of my young male customers took me completely off guard. He had been coming into the store regularly, browsing around but not buying anything, always eyeing some new tech gadget that was out of his price range at the time. We chatted a bit over a couple weeks and he opened up about feeling overwhelmed with decisions in life, he was struggling to find direction after school. I started calling him 'my little man' out of nowhere one day when he dropped by, kind of as a joke, but it hit home for both of us. He looked at me with this gleam in his eye like he wanted more guidance than just the occasional advice over store inventory. One evening, after closing, I suggested we have a proper talk about life and responsibilities. I laid out some ground rules for him, like how important it was to save up before splurging on new tech toys, and he eagerly accepted them as if they were commandments from an authority figure. We set up weekly check-ins where I'd ask about his progress, and surprisingly, he's sticking to the plan better than ever. He even calls me 'Daddy' now in a way that feels both nostalgic and exhilarating for someone like me who never thought this kink would find its way into my daily life. We're both happier from it.
