Proud Daddy Discipline

I'm a 30-year-old nurse and have been into DDLG for a few years now. Last night, I disciplined my submissive in a way that left marks but wasn't painful, just enough to show her the limits she needs to respect. Is this something others do too? Am I crossing any lines here?
