Caregiver's Secret Playdate

Anonymous Midnight Sprite #239 · General Confessions

I'm in my mid-30s and I've been a caregiver for five years now. It’s not the typical role most people would imagine when they think of a caregiver, but it has brought me immense joy and personal growth. One day, after a long week of looking after my charge, who's also an 18+ adult, by the way, I decided to indulge in something I had been thinking about for weeks: age-play with him as his temporary parental figure. It felt like such a natural transition from caring for him during the week to stepping into this nurturing, slightly authoritarian role at night. The look of surprise and excitement on his face was worth every second of planning and preparation. We spent the evening in candlelit comfort, talking about everything under the sun but with me making decisions and enforcing little rules like curfews and bedtimes, all consensual, of course. It’s hard to explain how exhilarating it was to switch roles like that, even if just for a few hours. I almost felt like we were on different wavelengths, both understanding yet playful in our dynamic. It made me realize there's so much more to explore in this unique space between caregiver and charge. We agreed to keep it a secret but couldn’t stop grinning at each other throughout the week.
