When I Broke a Small Promise to Myself

Anonymous Starry Petal #951 · General Confessions

I recently had an incident where I felt like a bit of a disappointment to myself in my little role. You see, I'm an artist who's very particular about routines and rules I set for myself, especially when it comes to the creative discipline I impose on myself as part of my DDLG dynamic with my partner. One day, while working in my studio, I decided to indulge in a small pleasure, a box of chocolates that had been sitting there for weeks, reminding me every time I passed by. Despite knowing these were strictly off-limits until after completing a certain piece I was struggling with, the temptation got the better of me and I couldn't resist indulging. In retrospect, it wasn't about the chocolates themselves as much as it was breaking one of my own rules, which in this dynamic serves to remind me that while I'm an adult, sometimes I need a bit of redirection or discipline. It left me feeling both guilty and curious, guilty for breaking something so trivial but also curiously detached from the usual importance I place on these little boundaries. This made me wonder if maybe part of what draws me into this dynamic isn't just about playacting being a 'little', but understanding how even adults sometimes need a bit of structure or external guidance to maintain their commitments.
