Little Mishap with the Cookie Jar
Anonymous Snuggly Cupcake #142 · General Confessions
I’ve always been a bit of a rule-follower when it comes to my dynamic with Mama. I respect her boundaries and feel secure knowing she’ll guide me through anything. But today, something happened that made me feel like such a little girl again. I was hungry for some cookies in the afternoon, but Mama had said clearly, ‘No snacking between meals, not until dinnertime.’ It’s one of those rules we both respect because it helps maintain structure and discipline. Yet, my stomach grumbled so loudly, I couldn’t resist anymore. Silently, in a rush of childish defiance, I found myself tiptoeing to the kitchen, fingers trembling as I lifted the lid of the cookie jar. Mama’s cookies always taste like her love and patience, and they called out to me with their rich chocolatey scent. But breaking this rule felt like betraying something more than just a simple snack time agreement. When she found out later, my eyes filled with tears. ‘I’m sorry, I know I should have waited,’ I said, feeling so small under her gaze. Mama was understanding but firm. She reminded me gently of the importance of waiting and how it builds trust in our dynamic. Despite her patience, I couldn’t shake off the guilt of breaking a rule that meant something deeper to us both.
