A Little Rebellion Is Still A Rebellion

Anonymous Snuggly Peach #549 · General Confessions

I promised myself I'd keep the house clean this week. It's one of my things. Cleaning keeps me grounded and reminds me that even as someone in their fifties with a busy life, I can still control something about it. But then Saturday hit, and despite telling myself three times to pick up my socks and laundry, I didn't do it. Maybe because I knew it was too late by then, the day felt so short yet endless. Or maybe just because I felt sad, and my sadness made me lazy. It's funny how such a little thing can make you feel like breaking all your rules. Cleaning is usually my solace; this time, it felt like a chore. Now, every sock that isn't in its place serves as a reminder of my failure, not just to keep the house clean but also to myself. I wonder if that's why some people enjoy DDLG, to have someone else remind them when they fall short and guide them back on track. But here I am, having no one to blame but myself.
