A Moment of Weakness

I've always prided myself on being a strict disciplinarian when it comes to my adult learners. I believe in fostering respect and responsibility from day one, ensuring that every student understands the rules and consequences for breaking them. In my DDLG dynamic with an especially curious group of adults who engage in this type of play as part of their kink lifestyle, it's about setting clear boundaries and maintaining a level of authority and control. However, no one is immune to moments of weakness, including myself. It started on a particularly stressful day at school, endless meetings, papers piling up, students needing extra attention. By the time I got home, my defenses were down. My partner and I have an agreement where certain rules are non-negotiable. Among these is the commitment to personal development activities we've set for ourselves, like reading educational materials or working on projects that contribute to our professional growth. On this particular day, I found myself exhausted, mentally drained from the constant demands of my role. The sight of a book waiting for me on the coffee table seemed more like a chore than something enriching and valuable. My adult learner is often very strict with adherence to these rules, viewing them as integral to the dynamic we share. Yet there I was, after an already long day, contemplating whether or not I should even attempt to engage in the activity. I ended up deciding that it could wait for another day, a rare lapse in judgment and self-discipline within my otherwise rigid framework of responsibility and accountability. As a result, my adult learner noticed the missed task during our check-in the next day. Though no physical punishment was administered, the emotional weight of disappointing someone I deeply care about who trusts me to uphold these standards lingered heavily. This experience made me reflect on how even those who set high bars for themselves can falter at times. It’s a reminder that everyone has their moments of weakness and it's important to be honest with oneself and willing to accept the consequences, be they emotional or disciplinary, in maintaining the integrity of our commitments.
