Exploring Power Dynamics in a New Relationship

I recently started seeing someone and we've been exploring different dynamics to spice things up. One night, she suggested trying out a scene where I'm her caregiver, sort of like a father-daughter dynamic, but obviously not in any way that implies anything from before adulthood or younger years. It was fascinating, I had never considered myself interested in this kind of setup, but there's something incredibly intimate and vulnerable about taking on a protective role. The consent and trust built between us made it feel safe to explore these feelings. We agreed beforehand that everything would be clearly communicated and respected, no matter how much power she gave me over her in the moment. Afterward, I felt like I'd discovered another layer of myself and our connection. It was surprisingly comforting and emotionally rewarding.
