Small Rule Breaker

Anonymous Whispering Bean #738 · General Confessions

I recently joined this community and I'm still trying to understand how it all works. In my current DDLG relationship, there's a rule that I have to tidy up the living room before going to bed, no matter how late it is. It's something small, but one night, after staying up late watching some old movies with my partner, I just couldn't bring myself to clean everything up right away. The next morning, when I woke up and saw how messy it still was, I felt a mix of guilt and disappointment in myself. Why do I feel so bad about such a small thing? Is this all part of the discipline aspect of DDLG, or am I just being overly critical of myself? It's not like there were any real consequences from my partner for breaking that rule; he didn't even mention it until days later when we had an unrelated discussion. Maybe this is a sign that I'm growing more comfortable with the dynamic and understanding its nuances better. Or maybe, like so many other things in life, it's just about setting and respecting boundaries.
