Why Am I Doing This?
Anonymous Blushing Petal #923 · General Confessions
I’m in my early 20s and have been a caregiver for someone who’s also in their early 20s. We’ve known each other since college, but our dynamic really shifted when they began showing interest in something... unique. They started asking me to treat them like they were younger, which I agreed to on the condition that it was always consensual and nothing too extreme. So here we are, months later, and while it’s been fun and interesting, there are moments where I feel out of my depth or unsure if this is healthy. We’ve never explicitly used terms like “Daddy” or “Mommy,” but the dynamics are definitely reminiscent of a power dynamic between adults. For instance, we’ll have these sessions where they want to be treated like a younger person in their needs and desires for care and attention. I find myself feeling both protective and playful towards them during these times, which is new territory for me. It’s not about sexual acts per se, it's more about emotional and psychological dynamics. But there are days when I’m not sure if I’m the one pushing this forward too much or being too careful about boundaries. I worry that I might be making assumptions based on my own comfort levels rather than truly understanding what they need from me in these roles we’ve created. It’s confusing because I care deeply for them and want to make sure I’m doing right by them. So, here’s where I turn to you all: Am I the asshole for not fully embracing this dynamic? Should I be more open to it or less involved? Or is there a middle ground I haven’t considered yet? It feels like a big question mark hanging over my head. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
