A Little Bit of Rebellion
Anonymous Shy Peach #681 · General Confessions
Well, I guess it's time for a confession. My husband and I have been together for nearly twenty years now, and we've both grown to really appreciate the dynamics in our relationship, especially that little corner where I'm the one who gets told off sometimes and has to follow rules set by him. It’s all fun and games until you start taking it too seriously, but lately I’ve let myself slide a bit. Yesterday morning, he had specifically asked me not to eat any of those last few cookies in the jar because he wanted them for dessert tonight. But there was something about how they called my name from inside their little paper home that made it impossible for me to resist. I couldn’t help but sneak one, and then another, until all that remained was crumbs at the bottom. Now, here we are a day later and I can still taste them on my tongue. It's a silly thing really, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it’s got me feeling a little out-of-line for once, like maybe I’ve forgotten just who's supposed to be making the rules around here. Sometimes even the smallest rule feels so important when you're part of something bigger.
