A Productive Daddy Day

Today was an amazing work-from-home day. I had a small break around lunchtime and decided to call my girl for some fun. The conversation got playful, and before we knew it, she wanted me to put her in timeout. She's been naughty about not following through with some tasks I gave her last week. So there I was, her Daddy figure, having to scold her over the phone while she was out at a coffee shop. We talked about how disappointed I am and made her promise to do better next time. It felt odd yet oddly satisfying giving verbal discipline even from afar. Our chat ended with me letting her know that when she gets home later, there will be more of a talk about what respect means in our relationship. And that if necessary, I'll take away some privileges for her bad behavior. Sometimes being the strict Daddy is just as thrilling as being the loving one.
