A Small Transgression

Last night, I couldn't resist indulging in a piece of cake that was meant to be saved for a surprise dessert party tomorrow. It's been baking in the oven all day, and its sweet aroma has tempted me since morning. As an adult with certain boundaries set for myself, I felt guilty about breaking this rule I've imposed on myself. The act itself is trivial, but it stirred up feelings of disobedience that resonated beyond just eating a forbidden treat.
