Daddy's Little Artistic Problem

Anonymous Fuzzy Fawn #593 · General Confessions

So, I've been this Daddy thing for about two years now with my sub. It's not like it was some sudden thing, we started dating when she was in her early twenties and had already known each other as friends since she was just a kid. Oops. Let’s rephrase that: Since before we met, she always seemed to admire me from afar in a way I didn't really understand at the time. Anyway, after a few years of dating, things got serious, and then one night over drinks, I suggested this Daddy thing as something fun to try out. She loved it right away, probably because her previous partners were more about kink than romance or affection. We had some rough patches early on because the power dynamics can be overwhelming at times. Fast forward a couple of years and we've worked through most of our issues, but there's this one thing that's been bugging me lately: I’ve noticed she’s been pushing back against my creative direction for her art projects. She used to love it when I'd help guide her work, I have some serious design skills myself from years as a professional artist. Now, however, she seems hesitant to follow any of my suggestions. I understand that everyone wants to find their own artistic voice and all that jazz, but dammit, sometimes I just know what would look good! She says it’s about her exploring new styles, which is fine...but it's still bothering me. I'm not sure if she's just growing up or maybe even testing limits in our dynamic. It's a weird feeling, because as a Daddy, part of my role involves giving guidance and direction, I feel like I’m failing somehow when she doesn't want to take that from me. But, on the other hand, it feels like a step forward for her independence and growth. So, here’s where I stand: torn between being supportive as an adult-to-adult partner versus feeling disappointed as a Daddy figure who's supposed to lead in certain aspects of our lives together. Any advice? Not really looking for it, just wanted to vent about this ongoing issue that's eating at me.
