The Roleplay Habit
Anonymous Giggly Cupcake #442 · General Confessions
I've been playing the little role with my partner for a few years now. It's strange because I'm thirty-two and you wouldn't think it'd be something an adult nurse would do. But there it is, a habit I find myself indulging in more often than not. Today was particularly intense, coming after a long shift where my feet were killing me and all I wanted was to come home and let go of the stress. We started with him asking me questions about the hospital, teasing me about being such a good little nurse despite having the authority to make big decisions in my own way. It felt odd yet strangely freeing to revert back to this childlike state for a while. The more we played, the more I realized it's not just about the act itself but how it allows me to unwind and embrace a side of myself that is rarely seen at work or even out in the world. I am comfortable now with who I am professionally, yet there remains something deeply comforting in allowing my partner to take care of me this way. Maybe I should be analyzing why I enjoy being told what to do after a day where I tell others what to do.
