My Secret Drawings and Inner Struggles

Anonymous Bratty Petal #438 · General Confessions

I’ve always been fascinated by the intricate details of relationships, how love can be complex and beautiful yet also filled with challenges. For as long as I can remember, art has been my way to express emotions that words often fail to capture. However, recently, I stumbled upon a dark corner of my creativity that left me feeling utterly lost and ashamed. It all started when I began drawing scenes of submission and discipline in my artwork. At first, it felt liberating, like an escape from the mundane details of my life. But as I delved deeper into this niche, something unsettling happened, I found myself questioning whether these drawings were more than just art. Was there a part of me that was drawn to the power dynamics depicted on paper? The thought alone terrifies and intrigues me. I tried to dismiss it as mere artistic exploration. After all, I’ve always been an admirer of Gothic themes and darker aesthetics, so why should these drawings be any different? But then came the night when I found myself daydreaming about scenarios that mirrored my sketches, situations where someone in a position of authority imposed strict boundaries on me. That’s when reality hit hard. I’ve always prided myself on being an independent and strong-willed person, but now there was this part of me that wanted to be controlled, to let go and experience something outside my comfort zone. The shame hit me like a tidal wave; what kind of adult craves submission? Is it wrong to want someone else’s guidance when I’ve always been self-reliant? I’ve kept these feelings hidden, scared of how they might define me or change the way people see me. Yet, I can’t shake them off either. It feels like a battle between embracing an unknown desire and running away from it. So here I am, writing this as a form of confession to myself, trying to reconcile who I thought I was with the stranger inside my mind and on my canvas. Am I wrong for exploring these feelings? Or is there something to be learned about acceptance in the face of such unconventional desires?
