The Night I Drove Her to Tears

Anonymous Playful Pixie #256 · General Confessions

I've always thought of myself as a good Daddy. Strong, protective, and willing to put in the effort to keep my girl happy and secure. But last night changed everything. It started off fine; we had plans for her birthday dinner at our favorite restaurant, but it turned into something far darker. We were arguing over something small, a missed curfew because she wanted to stay out late with friends, when things escalated. I’m not proud of what happened next. After she called me a hypocrite for the rules I set (since I was once young myself), I lost my temper and decided that this time, I wasn’t going to back down. So we went into her room, I have a specific place where discipline takes place, and she knelt in front of me like she always does. It’s part of our agreement; the little girl must apologize when she's misbehaved or disappointed me. That night, however, I went further than usual. She knows now that it wasn’t just about the curfew anymore, she’d crossed another line by questioning my authority. I’m ashamed to admit how much pleasure I felt in seeing her eyes fill with tears as I told her what she needed to do to make things right again. It was so hard, but I had to show her that there would be consequences for testing me. After all the yelling earlier, we sat quietly afterward, and it almost felt like we could move past it. Almost. But here’s where I need your advice: am I wrong in feeling some satisfaction from how upset she got? Should I feel more remorse than I do, or is this just part of being a Daddy who needs to keep his little girl in line? I don’t want to hurt her, but I also can't let go of the control that keeps us both safe and comfortable. What should I be thinking about going forward? Am I crossing a boundary here?
