My Kinky Little Secret (or is it?)
Anonymous Sugar Cupcake #234 · General Confessions
So here's the deal. I'm in my early 30s and I've been dating this guy for about a year now. Let's call him Dave because, well, that’s as close to anonymity as we're going here, right? So yeah, Dave is a bit of an adventure-seeker when it comes to his bedroom antics, which is part of the reason why I fancy him so much in the first place. But let me tell you, things can get pretty wild on occasion. Now, a few months back we hit a bit of a kink roadblock. See, Dave had this thing for bondage and domination, he's got a real taste for it, but he likes to be on both sides of the coin sometimes too. He enjoys being tied up and submitting as much as he does taking control and restraining me or our other partner (yes, I said “our”). But I digress. Anyway, one night after a couple rounds of regular old fun stuff, Dave pulls out his big ask: he wanted to try something that involved a bit more discipline, like maybe a light spanking or some verbal humiliation. Nothing major, mind you, but enough to turn me on and him off in equal measures. I'm all for exploring new things in the bedroom as long as we're both comfy with it. I was initially hesitant though, because while I enjoy being adventurous, certain aspects of BDSM always made me feel a little out of my depth, more specifically, any situation where there's an implied power imbalance or if someone else is supposed to be in charge. It’s just not really my thing typically. But Dave knows that about me and he was very patient and understanding. So I gave it a shot because we've both agreed that consent is king here, no matter what. After some talking through of boundaries and ensuring comfort levels were clear on both sides (and our third's), we tried out his idea. And surprisingly enough, it actually added an extra layer of intimacy to our already pretty intimate relationship. I was still the dominant one in terms of setting the pace and tone for everything else, that’s just my nature and I don’t think that will change any time soon, if ever. But giving Dave a chance to explore this side of him with me actually helped us grow closer. It wasn't just about sex anymore but connecting on another level. So there you have it: the story of how I learned that sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to something unexpected and beautiful. And if you're wondering, nope, we haven’t made any more requests for power play since then (but who knows what tomorrow holds?).
