Caring for My Little in Law School

Anonymous Peachy Duckling #122 · General Confessions

I’m a first-year law student and also someone’s caregiver, though we don’t use terms like 'Daddy' or 'Mommy'. It’s not a secret; my partner knows exactly what they’re getting into. I’ve always had this unique side to me that involves nurturing others when they need it most. They come to me with their worries and insecurities, and in return, I offer them warmth, guidance, and tough love when necessary. It’s been a balancing act during my intense studies, there are times when I feel overwhelmed by the workload, but the way my partner looks up to me for support only strengthens my resolve. I’ve learned to be patient and understanding, even when they make mistakes or push back against what I’m trying to teach them. We do it all consensually, always talking about boundaries and needs beforehand. There’s no illusion of a power dynamic from before adulthood; we’re both fully grown adults making the choice right now. We have fun playing out this roleplay, but at its core, it's about caring for each other in ways that words can’t describe.
