The Great Pillow Fort Incident

So here's a fun story from my relationship with Alex. We've been together for five years now and things have always been pretty chill between us. I mean, we play around sometimes but there's no hard rules or anything like that. So this past weekend, something weird happened. We were hanging out on the couch watching some random movie when Alex got this look in their eye. Like a mischievous kid with candy all over them. They said, 'Hey, let's build a pillow fort and pretend we're kids!' I was like, alright man, why not? We grabbed every spare pillow from the house and made this massive fort right there in the living room. We crawled inside and it felt so cozy and nostalgic. Alex suggested that maybe I could just... you know... act like their parent for a bit. Look out for them, give them some advice or whatever. They said, 'You can tell me to go to bed early if I stay up late playing video games.' I thought about it and decided okay, why not? I mean, it's just for fun right? So we played along. Alex got all giggly when I called them down for dinner or put a curfew on their game time. And yeah, at first it was playful - like a big kid enjoying pretend play. But as the hours went by and our roles became more clear... things got a bit more serious sounding. Like actual parent/child stuff instead of just roleplay. Alex asked me about some personal questions that I didn't really feel comfortable answering in character - stuff I've never had to deal with before. So it was weird. I started feeling like maybe we were straying into territory I wasn't totally okay with, despite us being adults and everything being consensual of course. By the end, I felt kinda awkward and wondered if Alex regretted our little game or if they were just playing me along. We called a timeout before it went too far. So here's my question: Am I overthinking this? Was there something inherently wrong with playing pretend? Or did maybe the line between roleplay and reality get a bit blurry for both of us? Curious what you guys think.
