A Little Rebellion Isn't Always Bad

Anonymous Velvet Star #863 · General Confessions

It's funny how sometimes a little break from routine can feel so wrong, even when there's no real rule against it. I'm the nurse on duty at the hospital and had been warned by my boss about snacking during work hours, nothing majorly serious or health-related, just an outdated policy that everyone mostly ignores but that I took seriously because, well, it’s part of my job to follow rules, right? Last night, though, I was starving after a long shift without a proper dinner break. The vending machine in the hallway seemed like such a harmless indulgence, a bag of chips and a bottle of water should be fine, right? But my conscience nagged at me as I walked back with my snacks. Even now, hours later, I can’t shake this guilty feeling that maybe bending just one little rule was worth it for a momentary comfort, but in the grand scheme, not okay. It’s these small acts of defiance, or maybe just convenience, that make me question how much control I really have over my own life and choices.
