Caring in a Unique Way

I'm an artist who also cares for someone younger than me. We don't use traditional labels like 'Daddy' or 'Mommy,' but there's definitely a dynamic of nurture and discipline that goes beyond friendship. Lately, I've found myself enjoying the challenge and intimacy it brings, even when enforcing strict limits to help them grow. Is this common in DDLG dynamics? I'm proud of how we support each other, but wonder if others find this normal too.
