Taking Care of Her... Him?

Anonymous Fuzzy Moth #550 · General Confessions

So yeah, I'm taking care of this person. They asked me to be their caregiver, not Daddy or Mommy, just caregiver. It's a bit confusing because sometimes they ask for very specific kinds of help, like emotional support or discipline, and other times it feels more like traditional caregiving stuff. Like last night, there was an unexpected incident where they needed help dealing with some intense emotions from work. I ended up having to guide them through a grounding exercise and talk about their feelings until we both felt better. It's not easy juggling that and my own life. There's also this odd shift in how I think of them, sometimes I feel very protective, like I'd do anything for them, other times it feels more professional or distant. Oh, and there was this one time when they wanted to try something new... they asked me to role-play as a teacher for the day, which turned out to be pretty eye-opening. It made me realize how much of an impact these little roles can have on our relationship. Now I'm not sure if it's just caregiving or if there’s more going on between us. Maybe that’s what happens when you’re in your 20s and trying something different?
